Course Description: This course acquaints the student with both the theory and practice of public health epidemiology, with an emphasis placed on diseases acquired in the workplace as a consequence of exposures to chemical, biological and physical agents.
Desired Learner Outcomes: Following completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Attendance Policy: Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes. Attendance will be taken at each session.
Evaluation and Measurement of Student Progress:
Students will be evaluated using the following criteria:
Midterm examination 100 points
Final examination 100 points
Research project 100 points
Material for the midterm and final examinations will come from the textbook and other reading assignments, as well as from lecture discussions. The lecture material will not necessarily follow the reading assignments as outlined in the course schedule. Students will also complete a relevant research project.
Grading Policy:
Grades will be determined according to the following percentage system:
90% or higher = A
80% to 89% = B
70% to 79% = C
60% or 69% = D
59% or lower = F
