Course Description: An overview of the OSHA
standards/regulations relating to General Industry
Course Objectives: This course is designed to introduce the
student to the standards and regulations which apply in general industry. The OSHA 1910 standard subparts which are
required course topics under the OSHA Training Institute’s Construction
Outreach Program will be covered in addition to other construction industry
related information. Upon successful
completion of the course the student will qualify for the OSHA 30 hour completion
card from the U.S. Dept. Of Labor.

Oral
Presentation 20%
Oral Presentation: Graduate students will prepare a 15
minute presentation on a topic chosen from the course outline on page 2 of this
syllabus. The presentation will include
extensive use of visual aids including examples of items discussed. A written paper of adequate length to convey
the subject matter must accompany the presentation.
Attendance
Policy: Unexcused absences of more
than two (2) sessions may result in lowering
of the final course grade.
Homework Assignment: Weekly
Conduct research involving the OSHA
subpart reviewed the previous class period.
Utilize resources such as the library, internet or safety trade
publications. Be prepared to share the
information the following class period.
Submit a one page analysis along with copies of supporting information.
