Course
Description:
Study of epidemiological methods to assess the patterns and determinants of
health and disease in populations.
Course
Objectives:
This is an introductory course in epidemiological research. The primary focus will be to study the
differences in the distribution and determinants of disease frequency in human
populations, and factors that influence those differences. Students will develop the skills and
knowledge needed to critically analyze and evaluate epidemiology research
articles. As part of this requirement
students are expected to develop or improve their research skills in obtaining
research articles in the field of epidemiology.

Homework assignments will be due back one
week (usually) after it was assigned.
Homework will be assigned every week and can be in the form of answering
study questions at the end of chapter, solving assigned math problems and
critically reviewing the journal articles.
Attendance will be taken, but bonus point will not be awarded, however
it may assist students that are
within 1 point borderline when final grades are determined. Late
assignments will not be accepted! There
will be no make-up exams (only under extreme case as determined by me), so make
sure you are there for the exam. It is responsibility of the student to know
the status of his/her grade throughout the semester.
