New TM Area of Emphasis

January 02, 2001

The new Transportation Area of Emphasis in the Technology Management (TM) masters program is an exciting development for a degree program which begin in 1996, and is the fourth area of emphasis available. This emphasis is offered in cooperation with the Nick J. Rahall II Appalachian Transportation Institute.

According to Dr. Bernie Gillespie, TM Program Coordinator, "As our transportation infrastructure becomes more high tech, transportation professionals must be prepared to deal with the rapid changes resulting from new technologies. Technology Management graduates from the new Transportation Area of Emphasis will have the tools and knowledge to harness these developments for the benefit of society. I welcome these students and look forward to integrating them with the already diverse group in the program."

One course, Intelligent Transport Systems, is required. Three additional courses must also be taken, selected with TM Advisor approval. Possible choices include:

Some of the courses listed above have prerequisites. Students selecting any of these courses must meet these prerequisites.
