2000-2001 CITE Outstanding Undergraduate Student Awards

May 21, 2001

Two undergraduate students in Marshall University's College of Information Technology and Engineering were recently recognized for their outstanding academic achievement at the Elizabeth Gibson Drinko Honors Convocation on March 30, 2001. Christopher Shaffer was selected as the Outstanding Pre-engineering Student and Isaiah Haynie was selected as the Outstanding Safety Technology Student. In addition to being recognized at the Honors Convocation, each student was presented with a framed certificate and a monetary award by Dr. James Hooper, Dean of the College of Information Technology and Engineering.
 

Christopher Shaffer, a John Marshall Scholar and member of the Marshall University Honors Program, is a 1999 graduate of Sissonville (WV) High School. Christopher will complete the two-year Pre-engineering program during the Fall 2001 term and has been an honors student (member of the Dean's List) every semester since enrolling at Marshall.

Isaiah Haynie will begin his senior year in the Safety Technology Program during the Fall 2001 term. Isaiah is from Maysel, WV and is a 1997 graduate of Clay Christian Academy. Isaiah, who has been on the Dean's list every semester of his collegiate career, completed his safety internship and is working during the summer of 2001 with Onyx Precision Services of Ashland, KY. Onyx is an international services organization specializing in removing, minimizing and managing waste material from industrial operations.

These awards are given to the most outstanding CITE undergraduate student in each of our programs as chosen by each program's faculty. This is the inaugural year of these annual awards.
