New Partnering Agreement
The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Center for Environmental, Geotechnical and Applied Sciences at Marshall University entered in to a Partnering Agreement to produce high value services vital to the nation and the region and enhance the capability of both organizations. This collaboration will be a catalyst for technological innovation and development of national class capability to improve the environmental health and economic vitality of the community and region.
The goals and objectives of the new agreement are:
Leverage multidisciplinary resources and capabilities to produce higher value technical services and collaborate on projects.
- Include large-scale, and complex Corps projects, regulatory, real estate actions, navigation, IIS, flood damage, environmental
- Secure funding and resources for innovative product and service development and research.
- Network with other institutions and agencies to build nationally recognized programs and share innovations, and establish conduits.
- Establish an effective mechanism to proactively and deliberately share information on programs, resources, and opportunities and develop communication protocols.
- Secure the appropriate authorities to enhance our performance and capabilities and facilitate more flexible working agreements.
Partner with the community and regional leaders and States to identify opportunities for economic development and environmental restoration.
- Collaborate on brownfields and land revitalization projects.
- Develop technologies with potential commercial applications.
- Participate in local Work Groups to identify high value projects with community and business leaders.
Increase the visibility of the Army Corps of Engineers and Marshall University partnering activities.
- Strive to publish and/or present success stories on a national level.
Collaborate to build nationally recognized graduate and undergraduate programs to enhance engineering and science disciplines.
- Promote and support an accredited engineering program.
Conduct semi-annual meetings (January and June), or as needed, to review current projects and potential future projects and programs.
- Annually review the partnering agreement mission and goals
