The College of Information Technology and Engineering at Marshall University invites applications for a new tenure-track engineering faculty position at the Associate Professor or Professor level to support the Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree program in the Weisberg Division of Engineering and Computer Science. The preferred start date for the position is January, 2010, but a later start date may be negotiated.
Position Type
Full-time, tenure track position. Rank and Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Duties
The successful applicant will teach undergraduate engineering courses, advise and mentor students, participate in research and creative activities, provide service on university and professional committees, and participate in the continued planning and development of the BSE program, particularly in the area of a mechanical or manufacturing area of emphasis.
Qualifications
Applicants should have an earned Ph.D. in engineering related to mechanical or manufacturing engineering and have the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the BSE program. Professional registration is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, have the potential to develop funded research, and possess an ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Background
The Weisberg Division of Engineering and Computer Science offers two undergraduate degrees and two graduate degrees: a BS in Engineering, a BS in Computer Science, an MS in Engineering, and an MS in Information Systems. The Division is housed in the College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE), a multi-disciplinary college with a wide range of faculty expertise and interests. A new engineering lab facility was opened in the fall of 2008, and planning is underway for additional facilities in the near future.
