Student Organizations

Student organizations are an important part of the Lewis College of Business and provide valuable interaction, knowledge, and experience for those who participate. There are incredible networking opportunities that have proven year after year to be one of the best sources of job opportunities upon graduation. Students in the College are encouraged to join at least one student group. Further information on student organizations may be obtained through the Lewis College of Business Deans’ Suite in Corbly Hall 107. Noted at the end of each organization is the location of the faculty contact with whom you may inquire about the group.

American Marketing Association

It is a professional association for individuals and organizations involved in the practice, teaching and study of marketing worldwide. Beta Alpha Psi

 

Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for Financial Information students and professionals. The primary objective of Beta Alpha Psi is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance, and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service, and association among members and practicing professionals; and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.

Beta Gamma Sigma

Beta Gamma Sigma is the official academic honor society of the AACSB. This club is open to all majors and faculty, but is by invitation only. To qualify you must be: 1) top 7% of all COB juniors who have declared a major, 2) top 10% of the current COB senior class, 3) top 10% of BBA graduates from the previous December, 4) top 20% of students in each individual COB master’s-level program, or 5) complete a COB doctoral-level program.

MUFMA is the Financial Management Association (FMA) student chapter at Marshall University. The aim of the society is to assist in the professional, educational, and social development of Marshall University students interested in finance, banking, and investments; provide an association for Marshall University students actively interested in these fields; and encourage interaction between business executives, faculty, and students of business and finance. Current President and Faculty Advisor of the chapter is Joshua Dauber and Dr. Mohammad Riaz Uddin, respectively.

Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) is an International Economics Honor Society dedicated to the encouragement of excellence in the field. Established in 1969 it is one of the largest academic honor societies and is fully recognized and accredited. Besides recognizing scholastic attainment in economics, ODE emphasizes the professional aspects of a career in economics for serving academia, business, government, and international organizations.
