Position Title:

Special Note:
Qualifications: A graduate
degree, preferable a doctoral degree in an
appropriate field; demonstrated expertise in
the field of learning disabilities and
reading education; proven leadership skills
and administrative experience; high-level
professional communication skills;
experience with fundraising, grant writing
and budget management.
Duties: Directing the core
activities associated with the College HELP,
Community HELP, Medical HELP, and Diagnostic
Testing programs; promoting the financial
viability of the Center by working with the
Business Manager to manage the budget as
well as directing fundraising, grant
writing, and the development of current and
potential donors; promoting the Center by
overseeing advertising, directing public
relations and media relations, and
participating in conference presentations at
national and regional associations to
highlight the programs at the Center;
supervising the hiring, training and
evaluation of coordinators, tutors and
graduate assistants; representing the Center
as liaison to the HELP Center Board of
Advisors and to the marshall University Dean
of the College of Education, the Provost,
the President, and the Board of Governors.

considered with confirmed
dissertation defense data before
August 1, 2012; coursework that
shows an emphasis in gifted
education; experience working with
children and youth who are talented
and gifted with at least three years
public school teaching experience.
Duties: Coordinate
graduate gifted program; revise
current program into a full-online,
nationally recognized program;
advise graduate and undergraduate
students; teach graduate courses in
giftedness, special education
research and student assessment;
provide leadership in the field of
gifted education through research
and participation in professional
association activities, through
involvement in local and state
school districts' efforts to improve
gifted programs, and through
consultation to groups and
individuals seeking appropriate
educational programs for gifted
students. The department also seeks
candidates who will contribute to
the University's general education
curriculum with its emphasis on a
common First-Year Seminar and core
curriculum courses that enhance
students' critical thinking, and the
College's support of
interdisciplinary programs of study.
Faculty are expected to maintain and
contribute to the ongoing collection
of assessment data for NCATE
reaccreditation consideration.
