Clinical Experience

Foreword from the Office of the Dean

Teacher Candidates:

Congratulations!  You have reached an important milestone in your teacher preparation program at Marshall University.  Clinical experience is essential to your development as a professional.  It is an opportunity to put theory into practice in K-12 learning environments.

You have worked hard at preparing yourself in our classrooms and laboratories for the important work ahead.  As a teacher candidate entering the clinical experience phase of your development, you will apply the concepts and skills that you have studied in your methods and pedagogy courses and assess your effectiveness.  This stage will add depth to your knowledge, challenge your ability to translate your learning into effective practice, and provide invaluable experience and feedback.

Teaching is an honorable profession with a profound responsibility to the students we work with.  I support your efforts as you begin this exciting and challenging semester.  I know that you will represent Marshall University and the College of Education well.

I look forward to celebrating the successful completion of your academic training by shaking your hand at graduation.

Best wishes,

R.B. Bookwalter
