National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
NCATE
is part of a continuum of teacher preparation and development that
begins with pre-service preparation and continues with stages of teacher
licensure and advanced professional development, including National
Board certification.
NCATE
has seen a decade of substantial growth...The NCATE of the new
millennium is poised to implement a new performance-based system of accreditation
developed during the last three years. This system will enhance both
accountability and improvement in educator preparation, as it requires
compelling evidence of candidate performance for institutions to become
accredited.
