Teacher Lecturer Web Site Launched

02.24.2001: The College of Education and Human Services at Marshall University is pleased to announce a new web site, which chronicles the visit of Dr. Loretta Long, Visiting Scholar in the Teacher Lecturer Program.

Dr. Long, who visited the Marshall University campus during the week of February 19, 2001, is best known for her portrayal of "Susan" on the long running PBS series, Sesame Street; a role which has evolved from housewife to nurse to working mother. Long is also an educator and consultant who earned her doctorate degree in education from the University of Massachusetts.

During her week long visit to Marshall University, Dr. Long made trips to various elementary and high schools in Cabell, Mason and Lincoln counties and provided books to elementary students as well.

The highlight of the week's festivities was the presentation "30 Years of Sesame Street" featuring Dr. Long and her Sesame Street friends. The program, held in the Smith Music Recital Hall on Thursday, February 22, was a great success. A reception followed in the atrium of the Recital Hall.

The College of Education and Human Services thanks everybody who made Dr. Long's visit possible. We are looking forward to future opportunities to bring outstanding minority educators to our university's campus.
