Fall 2002 Teacher Lecturer Series Dates Announced
In addition to teaching Biology, Ms. Shah
serves as both Academic and Science Fair Director at Fairland High
School. She teaches as an adjunct professor in the Integrated
Science program at Marshall University. She was a finalist for Teacher
of the Year, American Chemical Society WV; Outstanding Teacher Award,
Sigma Xi Research Society at Marshall University; recognition for
encouraging science research, Ohio Academy of Science; Outstanding
Teacher Award, Tandy Technology Scholars; Huntington Herald Dispatch Top
Teacher; and the Governor's Award for Excellence in Youth Science
Opportunities. She has also served as facilitator for Project Wet, a
learning project for local students.

ABOUT THE TEACHER LECTURER PROGRAM Because of a lack of minority
educators, both in public education and higher education, teacher
education candidates often lack role models who possess
valuable information about educating minority children. At a time when the
percentage of minority students The purpose of the Teacher Lecturer Program is to enable teacher education candidates to interact with minority teachers and to hear of their experiences in education, especially experiences dealing with effective teaching in the public school classroom. The Teacher Lecturer will also interact with College of Education and Human Services faculty. As part of the Critical
