Carole A. Vickers Scholarship
Dr. Carole A. Vickers received her BA degree in 1955
and earned her MA in 1960 at Marshall University.
Dr. Vickers served at Marshall University as Dean of
the College of Education and Human Services from
1988 to 1995 and as a professor from 1966 to 1998 in
the form Home Economics department.

Colin A. Campbell Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2003. Named after Dr. Margaret C.
Campbell’s brother. Dr. Campbell was a professor of
education at Marshall University. In 1987 Dr.
Campbell received the university’s first
Distinguished Service Award for her 30 years of
service and was acclaimed for the pioneering efforts
to improve education statewide. |

E. Joann Price Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2001. This scholarship is funded by
the Hershel C. Price Education Foundation and is
named after Joann Price, Hershel’s niece. Joann
Price was trustee of the foundation at the time of
her death in 1998. Ms. Price was a Huntington
native who graduated from Huntington East High
School and Marshall University with a degree in
Education. She was president of Price Limited, Inc. |

Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2004. Edith Marie Anderson Burke
attended Marshall University where she received a
Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master of Arts
in Elementary Education.
Harvey D. Burke attended the University of Wisconsin
and was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical
Engineering and worked for INCO Alloys in
Huntington. |

Gene McKee Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2006 by Gene McKee’s family and
friends, along with the staff of South Point Local
School District. Selba E. “Gene” McKee was a
lifelong resident of South Point, Ohio and was
actively involved in the church, education and
business communities. He served more than twenty
years on the South Point Board of Education where he
strived to improve education for South Point
students. |

Established in 2005. Mr. Corron received his BA and

integrity, strong faith, and love of education were
reflected in his career of over 40 years as an
educator in West Virginia and Texas. |

Lyell V. and Pauline Dunfee Douthat Scholarship
Lyell V. Douthat was a former Associate Professor of
education at Marshall University. While he was a
student at Marshall he played baseball and was
student body president. He earned his BA, cum laude
from Marshall University and his MS in Education
Administration from Ohio University. Pauline Dunfee
Douthat graduated from Marshall University in 1924.
During her husband’s tenure at Marshall, she was
very active in the Faculty Wives Club. |

Margaret Pace Scholarship
Established in 2004 by the Pace Family Foundation,
Inc. Ms. Margaret Ann Pace received her Bachelor of
Arts in Elementary Education and Special Education
at Marshall University in 1965. She also earned a
Master of Education degree from the University of
Virginia majoring in Mental Retardation in 1968.
She received a Master of Arts degree in Special
Education from Marshall University in 1971. |

Price Williams Scholarship Fund
Established in 1977 by three of Price William’s
former students, along with family members and
friends. Mr. Price was born in Beckley in 1890 and
earned his diploma in 1911 from the State Normal
School at Marshall College. He taught in Raleigh,
Cabell, Kanawha and Summers counties in West
Virginia. Williams was co-founder of Cabin Creek
District High School in East Bank and supervised the
Elk District rural schools. He was the former
president of the Kanawha County Elementary. |

Established in 2005 in his memory by many of his
friends and co-workers. He was a “master” teacher.
Not only did he have a comprehensive knowledge of
history, but also had a genuine love for his subject
and the ability to impart both his knowledge and his
