What tests do I need to take for the teacher education program?
  • Admission to Teacher Education - ADMI 4
    • Praxis I: PPST - Preprofessional Skills Test (Reading, Writing, Mathematics)
       
  • Certification
    • Praxis II: Content Specialty Tests and the Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT)
 
When do I need to take the required tests?
  • Praxis I: PPST
    You should take the PPST within the first 24 hours of course work to ensure that you have met the requirements for admission to teacher education.
     
  • Praxis II
    The certification tests should be taken after completion of your junior methods and at least by mid-term of your student teaching semester.
 
Where can I find information on the tests I need?

You can obtain information on the Praxis Test Series by visiting their website at http://www.ets.org. You can register and download Test-At-A-Glance booklets from this site.

 
Are there study guides to help me prepare for the Praxis I and Praxis II tests?

Yes. Here is a list of books that may be helpful when preparing for the tests:

What is ADMI 4 and ADMI 5? What are the requirements are the requirements?
  • ADMI 4: Admission to Teacher Education

If I apply for ADMI 4 and ADMI 5, but have not met the requirements, will my status be updated automatically once the deficiencies are met?

No. You must contact the Office of Programs and Certification in Jenkins Hall 227/229 to request that your status be updated.
