Master of Arts in Teaching


This program provides the professional education courses and clinical experiences, including student teaching, necessary to prepare individuals for teaching a specific content area in secondary education (Middle School & High School) PreK-Adult (Music, Art, & Physical Education), 5-Adult, or 9-Adult. Program completion results in the awarding of a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Recommendation for certification typically takes place at the same time, unless there are West Virginia Department of Education requirements still pending. Please note that the MAT program does not offer certification in Elementary Education or Special Education. (An endorsement in Special Education may be added after the initial content certification is earned.) Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program

The post-baccalaureate teacher certification program is an accelerated avenue for college graduates to attain teacher certification in secondary education (Middle School & High School) PreK-Adult (Music, Art, & Physical Education), 5-Adult, or 9-Adult.. The program's professional education courses and clinical experiences combine with the content the student earned at the undergraduate or graduate level(s) to lead to teacher certification.
