I am pleased to welcome you to the newly remodeled
College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) web site. This site
will provide you with a wide range of information on our excellent
academic programs, superior faculty, exciting outreach projects, and
dynamic centers. The College of Education and Human Services is the
oldest academic unit within Marshall University, dating back to
1867. It is comprised of the School of Human Services, School of
Education, and the Graduate School of Education and Professional
Development.
Individuals in the COEHS make-up an academic community focused on
human service professions, and this helping attitude is reflected in
all communications and interactions within the college. The COEHS
has talented and accessible staff, faculty and administrators, whose
main goal is to help students succeed. I am pleased that
approximately 4,000 students currently are part of the COEHS family
and encourage interested students to explore our programs.
I am proud to say that the COEHS offers a wide range of graduate
programs at the master's, education specialist and doctoral levels
in education and human service professions. The College has the
largest undergraduate teacher education program in West Virginia.
The college is home to 88 faculty members and includes the Division
of Human Development and Allied Technology, Division of Exercise
Science, Sport and Recreation, Division of School of Education, and
the Graduate School of Education and Professional Development. Also,
the college houses the Appalachian Studies Association, Autism
Training Center, June Harless Center for Rural Education Research
and Development, Higher Education Learning Program (H.E.L.P.), MU
Child Development Academy and the MU Computer Based Testing Center.
Fully accredited, the college's undergraduate and graduate programs
feature a unique educational blend of theory and hands-on
experience.
