The Adult Education area of emphasis is designed to serve persons who work with adults in either an instructional or an administrative mode. Its participants are drawn from various areas, such as the human services agencies, those with staff development, or in service responsibilities in hospitals, business or government as well as those in adult preparatory programs at the post-secondary or community college level.

Apparel Design and Merchandising

An area of emphasis in the B.A. in FCS that prepares students for jobs in the apparel and textiles industries, and related fields. Students learn how to create apparel product lines; develop specifications for buying and managing inventory for targeted consumers; design and create pleasing shopping environments for customers; and application of technology in the fashion industry.

Child and Family Services

Area of emphasis in the B.A. in FCS offers courses that cultivate professional expertise to work in human services and help consumers make informed decisions. Career opportunities include administrators of child or family services programs, school age program coordinators; youth program specialists, family life or parent educators, senior center coordinators, family financial planners/counselors, consumer advocates/lobbyist, and government housing administrator.

Hospitality Management

This area of emphasis allows students with an Associate Degree in Hospitality Management to complete a B.A. in Family and Consumer Sciences degree. Graduates are prepared for entry and mid-level positions in foodservice industry including restaurants, and hotels.
