GRADUATE PROGRAM COMMITTEE MEETING

October 25, 2006

PRESENT:       Beverly Farrow, Mary Harris-John, Paula Lucas, Stan Maynard, Ruth Ann Murphy, Rudy Pauley, Sandra Stroebel, Mike Sullivan,

NEW BUSINESS

·           Paula Lucas was appointed chair

·           Course Addition:

CI 690 Capstone Experience (Elementary & Secondary Education)

R. Pauley provided background information.  After a brief discussion, M. Sullivan made a motion to approve the course addition (M. Harris-John second); motion passed

·        Change in Certification Program:

     Math Through Algebra I – (change from 21 hours to 24 hours)

     R. Pauley provided background information.  It was suggested to add “No” to the shuttle sheet question “Is this a new certificate program/area emphasis?”  R. Murphy made a motion to approve the change (M. Sullivan second); motion passed

     Middle Childhood Education – (request for new certificate)

     R. Pauley provided background information.  After a brief discussion of the current 12-hour endorsement program, M. Harris-John made the motion to approve MCE as a certificate program (S. Maynard, second); motion passed

OTHER

·        Program Review in FCS

      It was discussed that FCS Program Review will be reviewed by the committee; submit comments to Paula by November 1; comments will then be forwarded to Jane McKee
