PRESENT:       Bob Barnett, Ron Childress, Mary Harris-John, Stan Maynard, Bill McDowell, Jane McKee, Ruth Ann Murphy, Mike Sullivan, Tony Williams, Joyce Harrah

NEW BUSINESS

!          A motion was made to approve the minutes of October 13 (M. Harris-John second); motion passed

!          B. Barnett will send revisions electronically to R. Childress regarding course changes - PLS 550, PLS 551, PLS 553

!          Reading Licensure Proposal - R. Childress provided background information; N. Bowling & S. Maynard provided specific program information

B   18 credit hour program beyond baccalaureate and can be used toward a master=s degree

B   practicum is imbedded into the 6 courses listed

B   listed as Pre K-Adult which will cover 5-9, 9-12

B   state department is in support of this licensure program

B   substantial demand for program across the state

B   target market includes: substitute teachers, counties through our outreach programs, teachers who want more than what is provided from other programs dealing with literacy, elementary teachers, middle school & secondary language arts teachers, special education teachers, teachers of ESL

M. Sullivan made a motion to approve the licensure program (M. Harris-John second); motion passed

!          Update on Assessment Report - a subcommittee to review the reports was formed at the last meeting; subcommittee members: (B. Barnett, M. Sullivan, M. Harris-John, B. Farrow)

!          Update on NCATE - J. McKee will check
