NEW BUSINESS

·           Paula Lucas, named chair

·           Meeting called to order

·           Course Changes

o       CIEC 600 title change; catalog course description

o       CIEC 635 title change; catalog course description

Changes reflect terminology WVDE is using for 21^st Century Learning

Sottile made a motion to approve the course changes; Simone second; motion passed

·           Course Addition

o       CIRG 601, 3 credit hour, S/U grading

Barbara O’Byrne provided background information; elective added to program, replacing comprehensive exams, supports doing portfolio, support for writing

Sullivan made a motion to approve the course addition, Sottile second, motion passed

·           Change in Certificate

o       Early Childhood Education

o       English as a Second Language

o       Middle Childhood Education

Required change mandated by Policy 5100 of the State Department of Education – addition of one required technology course which meets ISTE Standards

Harris-John suggested the new titles for CIEC 600 and CIEC 635 be reflected on the certificate change forms pending approval by Graduate Council.  Sullivan made a motion to approve the certificate change, Harris-John second, motion passed
