Thomaseen Foley’s Celtic Christmas was presented live at the Keith Albee Theater in Huntington in 2006. This presentation of a traditional Irish celebration combines Celtic instruments and dancing with singing and storytelling.
(suggested for elementary grades)DIVA The Jazz Orchestra
DIVA performed its high energy music at MU’s Joan C. Edwards playhouse last spring. This presentation highlights some of DIVA’s signature pieces and features impressive solo work by members of the group. Students will have opportunities to ask questions about DIVA and its music.
(suggested for middle and high school grades)MU Pickled Pepper Players Present: Bullies and School Safety
Characters help create awareness of what constitutes bullying, present problem solving strategies, and explore ways that children can become involved in promoting school safety. This program made possible through the collaborative efforts of MU’s Theatre Department and Community School for the Arts in an agreement with Kids on the Block, Inc. (Puppeteers using child-sized puppets speak about health and safety issues important to children. The interactive art of Japanese-style Bunraku has been adapted for these presentations.)
(suggested for all grades)MU Pickled Pepper Players Present: Obesity and Overweight
Characters help children understand how the food they eat and the types of activities in which they engage affect their weight and health. They discuss the effects of unhealthy lifestyles and encourage children (and adults) to set realistic goals to change unhealthy habits through making small changes. This program made possible through the collaborative efforts of MU’s Theatre Department and Community School for the Arts in an agreement with Kids on the Block, Inc. (Puppeteers using child-sized puppets speak about health and safety issues important to children. The interactive art of Japanese-style Bunraku has been adapted for these presentations.)
