Kappa Kappa Psi
Kappa Kappa Psi
Kappa Kappa Psi is a fraternal organization
that promotes the advancement of college and university bands through dedicated
service and support to bands; comprehensive education; leadership opportunities;
and recognition; for the benefit of its members and society. Kappa Kappa Psi
operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose
chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and
enthusiasm that is required of his/her band.
Members of the Kappa Kappa
Psi brotherhood enjoy many service activities that are both rewarding and educational.
Membership in Kappa Kappa Psi enriches a student's life and gives the student
an appreciation for the best in music and what it takes to achieve it. The Zeta
Lambda chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi strives for the highest in every endeavor.

Greetings from
Huntington! As the temperatures begin to drop quickly, we once again look
forward to knowing that Spring is just around the corner. And along with warmer
weather, Spring also brings something else that we enjoy – District Conventions!
We, the Brothers of the Zeta Lambda Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi at Marshall
University, are very excited to be hosting the 2006 North Central District
Convention and the 2006 NCD Leadership Weekend. Included on this page is
information regarding facilities and registration for this year’s NCD
Convention. If you have any questions about information that is or is not listed

Country
Roads: NCD Convention 2006, will
take place March 24-26, 2006 at the Embassy Suites Hotel located in Downtown
Charleston, West Virginia. The Hotel, a member of The Hilton Family of hotels,
features all two-room suites that include a sleeping area and a living room
area. Detailed hotel information can be found at their website:

Please observe the
following information regarding making room reservations at the hotel for
Convention:
The Embassy Suites Hotel
has reserved a block of suites at a special rate of $99.00 per night plus tax.
This rate covers up to four people. Any additional people over the four will be
charged $10.00 per person per night.
To reserve a suite at this rate, please make
your reservation by FEBRUARY 27, 2006. Your reservation may be made by
calling 1-800-EMBASSY or go online to
www.embassysuitescharlestonwv.com. After this date the special rate
will no longer be available.
You must use the three-letter code KKP
when making reservations in order to receive the discounted rate. Online, you
will enter this 3-letter code in the group/convention code space. Please do
not ask for the Kappa Kappa Psi “Block.”
Check-In time is 4:00 PM and Check-Out
time is 12:00 PM. Requests for early arrival, late departure, room type
or floor assignments cannot be guaranteed. Reservations must be cancelled by
4:00 PM the day prior to arrival to avoid charges.
Please note currently there is a 6% WV State
Sales Tax and 6% Local Occupancy Tax. Self Parking is $4.50 per day in the
on-site parking garage.
The complimentary breakfast is available
Weekdays 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM and Weekends 7:00 AM – 10:30 AM. The breakfast
includes a made-to-order omelet station along with your favorite breakfast
items.
The Manager’s Reception is held from 5:30 PM –
7:30 PM each evening. This includes complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and
light snacks.
Embassy Suites offers a complimentary
shuttle to and from Charleston’s nearby Yeager Airport. Also available is an
indoor pool, sauna, whirlpool and exercise facility and a 24-hour business
center.
Please remember that the deadline for reserving
your chapter’s rooms at the special rate is February 27, 2006. After that date,
you will be charged the regular room rate and the remainder of the “blocked”
rooms will be released for the use of the general public. Reserve your
rooms as soon as possible so that additional discounted rooms can be added if
needed.

Registration Information
Registration information has been mailed to
each chapter. If you did not receive your packet, please contact us at
ncdconvention2006@yahoo.com. Otherwise, forms should be completed and
postmarked by February 27, 2006. Forms postmarked after that date will be
considered late and a fee of $10.00 per person will be assessed. Additional
copies of registration forms may be found below. Band Directors and Sponsors who
are attending Convention should register using the Individual Registration Form.
In order to be considered as “registered,” a
chapter or individual’s registration form and full payment must both be
received. Registration cost is $35.00 per person. A confirmation e-mail will be
sent when your completed Registration Form is received.
