Marching Thunder Pep Band

The Marching Thunder Pep Band performs at most of the Marshall University men's and women's home basketball games.  The Pep Band also performs at the Capital Classic basketball game between Marshall and West Virginia University in Charleston each year.  The Marching Thunder Pep Band also travels to post-season basketball tournaments supporting our men's and women's teams.

Message for Basketball Pep Band Members From Dr. Miller

Dear Pep Band Members,

Happy New Year!  I hope that your semester break has been a good one for you.  We are busily getting things ready for the spring semester's Pep Band performances.  Our first performance is this coming Monday, January 10, the first day of classes.  It is important that we have the Pep Band ready to go for that performance even though our first scheduled class meeting is not until Friday  January 14th!

I have attached personnel rosters for the Green and White Bands to this message.  The GREEN Band is scheduled to perform.  PLEASE NOTICE THE REPORT TIME!  It is 5:10pm which is much earlier than usual. Any WHITE Band members who would like to play this game are more than welcome to do so!

The personnel for the Green and White Bands can be changed, but let's wait until our rehearsal on Friday to do so.

The uniform for Monday's game, as well as all the games this semester, is: Green Pep Band golf shirt (which will be distributed at report time), tan or gray long pants, black sox, black shoes.  If you think you may be cold with just the short- sleeved golf shirt you may wear a long-sleeved WHITE shirt underneath the golf shirt.

For this game we will be using the Pep Band folios that we rehearsed with before the semester break.  We have added some of this year's marching band music to those folios.

We will have the band room open at 4:30pm on Monday for those of you who want to get there early to look over the music and get your shirts.  We must be warmed up and in our seats in the arena at 5:30 to begin our pre-game concert.

I am sorry for the confusion with this first performance, but that is just the way the schedule worked this semester.  We are professionals in how we approach our responsibilities and we must do what has to be done.
