Endowed Nursing Scholarships

Unfortunately no endowed scholarships are available at this time. 

 The Charles Freeman Butler Scholarship was established in 1994 by Ruth Butler to honor her brother, Charles.  The Butlers were the owners of Butler Furniture, a landmark business located near the Marshall campus.  Recipients of this scholarship must be full time students with financial need.  The scholarship is renewable for 8 semesters as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress.  Full time undergraduate and graduate nursing students are eligible to apply.

The Dora Craig Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007.  The scholarship honors Dora Craig, an emergency room nurse at Williamson Memorial Hospital who spent the last years of her life caring fort her family members including her husband, Bill Craig, SRr who played baseball at Marshall in the 1930's and was elected to the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.  This scholarship is for undergraduate full-time nursing students with a preference for students from Mingo County, WV and Pike County, KY.  One award will be made each year. 

The Misty Dawn Endicott Memorial Scholarship celebrates the life of Misty Dawn Endicott, a Wayne county native and graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School.  The donors of this scholarship want the recipients to always remember that Misty walked in their shoes and to never give up on their dreams. Sophomore Bachelor of Science in Nursing students with demonstrated financial need and a 2.5 or better overall grade point average are eligible to apply for this award.  This scholarship has a separate application and is renewable for 6 semesters.

The Jenny Jones Memorial Scholarship established in 2003 honors the memory of Jenny Jones.  The scholarship is for nursing majors and is a one year award.  Recipients are selected by the College of Health Professions Dean and Financial Aid. 

The Edith M. Miller Memorial Scholarship was established in 1986.  The recipients are selected on the basis of need and scholastic ability.  Both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible for this award.

The Giovanna B. Morton Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 to honor Dr. Giovanna B. Morton  and to celebrate her dedication and contributions to nursing students and to the School of Nursing.  Recipients may be undergraduate or graduate nursing students with an overall grade point average of 3.5 or higher. 

The James Angelos Pappas Memorial Nursing Scholarship honors the memory of James Angelos Pappas who receive his BSN degree from the Marshall University School of Nursing in 1990.  Recipients may be graduate or undergraduate students who are married with children.  Recipients are selected by the Dean of the College of Health Professions.  The scholarship is renewable for 8 semesters. 

The Huntington Pediatric Clinic Council Scholarship's purpose is to support the growth of pediatric nursing in the Tri State area.  Priority for this scholarship are residency in the Tri State Area with a major in nursing with an emphasis on pediatrics.  Recipients may be graduate or undergraduate students with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and financial need.  This award is renewable as long as satisfactory academic and personal progress is demonstrated. 

The Jeri Stoner Memorial Scholarship was established in 1978 to honor the memory Jeri Stoner, an RN Option nursing student who died while completing her bachelor's degree.  Recipients must be junior or senior undergraduate nursing students with financial need a consideration.  The award may be renewed for a second year. 

The Jane Snyder Trainor Scholarship was established in 1994.  Recipients must be West Virginia residents majoring in nursing.  The scholarship is renewable for 8 semesters. Both graduate and undergraduate students may apply.

The Dixie L. Hudson Wilson and Richard Lee Wilson Nursing Scholarship was established in 1996. Recipients must be West Virginia residents with financial need who are full time students with a 3.0 grade point average or higher.  The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient continues to maintain a 3.0 or higher grade point average.  The scholarship is available to graduate and undergraduate students.
