About

The College of Health Professions offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nursing.  Graduate and undergraduate courses are offered at various sites throughout West Virginia via interactive classrooms.  Currently in addition to the Huntington campus, graduate classes are offered in cooperation with West Liberty State College in Warwood, West Virginia, in cooperation with Bluefield State College in Bluefield, West Virginia, in cooperation with Fairmont State College in Fairmont, West Virginia, at the Marshall University  Mid Ohio Valley Center in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and the Marshall University Graduate College in South Charleston, West Virginia.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered in Huntington and off campus at the Mid Ohio Valley Center in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.  In addition to the Huntington campus, the  Accelerated BSN program for licenses registered nurses is offered at the Mid Ohio Valley Center in Point Pleasant and the Marshall University Graduate College in South Charleston, West Virginia.

Master of Science in Nursing Programs
Students have the choice of three areas of emphasis for the Master of Science in Nursing Program.  They may select from Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Administration, and Nursing Education.  Post master's certificates are offered in the Family Nurse Practitioner , Nursing Education and Nursing Administration tracts.  Family Nurse Practitioner students interested in School Nursing may take electives that prepare them for certification as a School Nurse Practitioner.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is a four year program which leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.  Students are accepted to the program on a competitive basis.  The deadline to apply is January 15 for the fall semester.  The Accelerated BSN is for licensed registered nurses who want to complete their BSN degree.  The accelerated program gives associate and diploma graduates the opportunity to complete their bachelor's degree in as little as three semesters after all the academic required courses are complete.  Students also have the option of completing a School Nurse certification which opens up opportunities for working as a school nurse in West Virginia.

Associate in Science of Nursing Program
The College of Health Professions offers the Associate in Science of Nursing Program in cooperation with the St. Mary's School of Nursing.  Students in this program go to the St. Mary's School of Nursing for their nursing courses and complete their academic required courses on the Marshall University Huntington campus.  Upon graduation, students receive an ASN degree from Marshall University.

Students have the opportunity to practice in urban, rural, and multidisciplinary settings. Faculty are well qualified and clinically expert in their fields. The student/faculty ratio in the clinical setting averages 1:8.
