Policy:
Graduate GPA Policy |
Graduate students who have
graduate GPA's below 3.00 or who have received more than two graduate course
grades of C may become eligible for graduation as follows:
-
If they have more than two C's,
they may repeat any course(s) in which they earned a C and substitute the
repeated class(es) (assuming they earn a higher grade) in their program.
Grades from both the original and repeated classes are used in the calculation
of their GPA, however.
-
If a student wishes to substitute
for a course in which they have earned a C, any course other than a repetition
of the course, permission must be obtained from their Advisor. Permission
will be granted only for academic courses in their major field, preferably
with similar subject matter or content. Again, grades from both the original
and the substituted course are used in the calculation of their GPA.
-
Students wishing to use courses
in practicum, special topics, or courses in other departments to improve
their GPA may do so only with the approval of their advisor. Such courses,
however, cannot be used to remove the deficiency of more than two C's and
will not be counted as part of their approved 36-hour program.
