CORP resumed its regular meeting schedule this morning, starting off our third year with the traditional Starbucks for breakfast, followed by a dry run of Karen McComas’s dissertation defense. Her work toward a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction focuses on how women in Communication Sciences and Disorders become researchers. The audience shared in discussion afterwards, realizing that her work spoke to students and faculty alike — researchers and non-researchers, as well.
Prior to this meeting, all groups who were accepted for the 2010 Annual Convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association met to discuss ideas for travel and lodging. Amtrak is providing a 10% fare reduction rate for Convention attendees. There is also an international hostel located a mile from the convention center with modest rates for the adventurous traveler. CORP may travel in a convoy this year!
