Hearing Conservation in Children

Abbi Stewart and Emilee Williams are seniors in the Communication Disorders program at Marshall University. They are enrolled in a special topics course that will continue a study that looks at hearing conservation in children. They will use the Listen for Life program developed last year into the public schools. The Listen for Life program introduces the concepts of loud sounds, the effects loud sound can have on hearing and ways to control exposure to loud sound. To measure the children’s knowledge of these concepts a pre-test questionnaire will be given before the activity and a post-test questionnaire given after the activity and again in thirty days.
