On this morning in CORP, Pam Holland, faculty member and clinic director, talked to the group about service learning and the very limited research that is on this topic in regards to communication sciences and disorders. Mrs. Holland teaches the introductory-level course in the major, where her students are required to engage in service learning throughout the semester. Most of the students in CORP have not had this opportunity – they have either completed an observation lab or have engaged in clinical practicum. Fortunately, two students who attended other universities prior to Marshall were able to provide insight for all of us on this unique learning experience. This semester, Mrs. Holland and her team are conducting a literature search and review to delve further into this matter.
