Undecided Students

Undecided Science Students should immediately begin speaking with an Academic Advisor, Faculty, and peer mentors concerning careers in Science and opportunities. Also, you may need to do research on various careers available. It is the goal of the Office of Student Services to assist the Undecided Science Student in identifying personal strengths, values, and goals as well as careers.

Mandatory Advising

Undecided Science Students have mandatory advising each semester. You must speak with an advisor before pre-registration so your advising hold can be removed. An advising hold placed on your record will prevent you from registering for classes. The best time to see an advisor is before the pre-registration rush.

Students may drop in to see an advisor at the Office of Student Services is located in the Room 214 Science Building. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Students will be seen on a first come basis.

Don't wait till the last minute to see an Academic Advisor.

Preparing for an Advising Visit

Please bring the following:

  1. A list of questions you may want to ask.

  2. A tentative class schedule.

    • Schedule of Course booklets and Schedule Adjustment Forms are available in the Office of Student Services or outside the Registration Office in Old Main.

  3. If you already have a schedule or partial schedule, bring a detail copy of it with you. Available on myMU.

Declaring a Major

Once you've decided on an academic and career goal, you need to stop by the College of Science Dean's Office and complete a Change of Major form. Once the form has been completed your record will be updated in the computer system. Majors should to be declared before you Junior Year evaluation.

It is recommended that you then speak with an Academic Advisor to review your progress made toward your newly declared major.
