Graduate Assistantships

The Criminal Justice Department offers several types of Graduate Assistantships depending on the needs of the department, the qualifications of the graduate student and the resources provided by the university.

First, the department has departmental Graduate Assistantships and Graduate Work Study Assistantships (for those who qualify for work study).  Those who have these assistantships will aid the department in projects and class monitoring.  They will assist professors with classes, assist with the Career Fair, student organizations and departmental tasks.

Second, the department has Research Assistantships.  Those students who are selected for Research Assistantships will assist professors and the department with research projects such as developing and distributing surveys, article publications, book preparation, statistical analysis, and library research in our new library pictured here.

Third, the department has Teaching Assistantships.  Those students chosen for Teaching Assistantships will teach an introductory class and/or substitute for professors when they must be absent from campus on professional or university business.  They will work with a faculty supervisor and will develop syllabi, lesson plans, lectures, group projects, tests and other methods of evaluation.

Other Graduate Assistantships are available throughout campus, including Student Athletics, the HELP Program, the Graduate College, the Library and other departments.  Students should contact the Graduate College for suggestions.
