Eligibility
Requirements:
To be eligible as a participant in Marshall’s Railroad Conductor
Training Program you must meet the following requirements.
However, this is a selective admissions program and applicants meeting
the minimum requirements are not guaranteed an invitation to move
forward in the selection process. Applicants will be further
ranked based on previous work experience, education, testing, and
interview information.
Note:
It is in your best interest to disclose all information related to the
eligibility requirements on the application or interview. If you
choose to withhold any information related to these requirements, it
will be discovered during the 5-week program and you will be dismissed
from class with NO REFUND.
Possess High School or GED Diploma.
Minimum of two years
full-time work experience after high school or full-time college or
combination of both FT work and FT college. Part-time work or college does not count towards this requirement.
Possess a valid and current driver’s license.
Have no record or history of DUI’s
in the last three years or multiple DUI's
Have no felonies in last
seven years
or multiple felonies.
No repeat convictions
for same offense (misdemeanors or felonies).
Not be on probation
or any open background issues.
No large gaps of
unemployment (6 months or more) or inconsistent work history.
Must live within
required area (30 minutes/30 miles) of hiring location.
No terminations in
last 2 years from any position for any reason
No safety violations
within 5 years.
Have no record or history of
drug use, drug treatment program or positive drug test.
Willing to relocate upon graduation to meet the railroad employment
needs.
No fear of heights.
Have above average
reading ability and
generally good test taking abilities.
Meet physical requirements. Lift 85 lbs to a height of 40 inches,
good hearing, non-colorblind/non-colorblind deficient, and generally in good health condition. (Medical evaluation
and strength test is required during the 5 week class).
Enrollment Process:
Complete an online
application and be authorized to proceed in application process.
Attend Orientation and
Testing Session for pre-screening test and interview.
Be placed on qualified
(waiting)
list until jobs open in primary location.
The hiring railroad
contacts our offices with class date, locations and number of
applicants needed.
Once class scheduled,
all applicants on waiting list for that area are reviewed.
Program Coordinator
makes selection for class based on ranking and testing date.
Selected applicants
are contacted by telephone and have 24 hours to return the call.
Selected applicants
must pay tuition in full before officially enrolled in class.
