The Faculty Development Office of CTL provides a wide range of professional development opportunities for new and experienced faculty members, both full-time and part-time. Our signature initiatives include iPED: Inquiring Pedagogies (our an annual fall teaching conference, always the Tuesday before fall classes start), Pedagogy Matters (our hybrid workshop for online course design, methodology and best practice), and New Faculty Orientation in both the fall and the spring, co-sponsored by Academic Affairs. We also offer faculty development programming to assist those teaching in the Core Curriculum (both the FYS Institute and CT Workshops).

The Faculty Development Office also works to create spaces for faculty to gather–both face to face and virtually–to exchange ideas and develop new knowledge. The new Teaching Commons in the CTL office suite (Old Main 109) is designed to be a flexible and inspiring environment for faculty and is equipped with Polycom to accommodate faculty who work off the main campus in Huntington. We also support faculty in achieving their full potential as teacher/scholars, and to that end now offer a fuller array of professional development initiatives, including Research Boot Camp for New Faculty and several new year-long Faculty Learning Communities.
