Dr. Eldon Larsen (2009-2010)

Dr. Eldon Larsen earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University in 1977, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young in 1978, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1983. He joined the faculty at Marshall in 1999 and retired in 2019 as a Professor of Engineering emeritus in the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences. He served two years as Chair of Marshall University’s Faculty Senate and nine years as Chair of the Graduate Council. He has also served on numerous committees at all levels within the University. He served as the Coordinator of the Master of Science in Engineering program, in which he taught engineering management courses. While a member of the Marshall faculty, Dr. Larsen has produced over 60 scholarly publications, has delivered over 80 presentations at national conferences and other venues, and has chaired at least 38 sessions at national professional meetings. He received the Marshall University Distinguished Artist and Scholar Award and twice received the university’s Outstanding Graduate Advisor of the Year Award. He was the 2017- 2018 recipient of Marshall University’s Dr. Charles E. Hedrick Outstanding Faculty Award. In 2019 he received Marshall University’s Distinguished Service Award. While serving at Marshall University, Dr. Larsen also served for six years as bishop of his local church congregation of approximately 600 people. Before joining Marshall, Dr. Larsen received the Union Carbide Corporation Chairman’s Award and other awards. He is coauthor of two patents. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. And, he is an Eagle Scout. He is now retired.
