About
Hilary Brewster taught high school English in suburban Philadelphia for many years before completing her doctorate. While at Ohio State, she supervised student teachers in the Columbus City Schools. At Marshall, she has created a course on her favorite YA trilogy, The Hunger Games, and has been active in the women’s studies advisory board, helping to plan events like Take Back the Night and BodyShots. She is also the current Faculty in Residence for First Year South Residence Hall and volunteers at The Wild Ramp and CONTACT Rape Crisis Center. She is currently the Director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Marshall.
Selected Publications and Presentations
Dr. Brewster’s publications include book chapters on The Hunger Games film adaptation (Sense) and Harry Potter translations (Palgrave Macmillan). She has presented research at NCTE, MMLA, PCA, and the International Society for the Study of Narrative.
