About
Joni Magnusson joined the Marshall University faculty in 2013. Her husband, Dr. Damien Arthur, is also at Marshall as an Assistant Professor in the political science department. Together, they have two daughters.

Prior to her work at Marshall, Joni was a technical writer for Lockheed Martin where she utilized the techniques of technical and workplace writing in her role as a document author and editor. Since leaving the field of technical writing, she has used her academic qualifications and business credentials to teach ENG 204, Writing for the Workplace. She also teaches ENG 476/576, Structures of the English Language, has taught a technical and scientific writing course, and has designed and launched online versions of ENG 204 and ENG 476.

Joni’s current areas of research interest include education, inter-disciplinary approaches to Toni Morrison’s novels, and popular culture.
