Because
the study of English draws upon many other disciplines and provides
a context for them, some knowledge of other disciplines makes
literature and language more informed and useful. The
Pre-Professional option is designed to be pursued with another
liberal arts major in order to enhance the liberal arts and
communication background sought for in many professional
specializations.
Students should apply to the Department of English Chair by the end
of the junior year, at the latest. Students should bring to the
Chair a letter from the College of Liberal Arts office stating that
the work toward another major is well in progress and will be
completed by graduation.
