Misty Marra Williamson serves as a Forensic DNA Analyst III as well as the DNA Laboratory Coordinator at the Marshall University Forensic Science Center. In this capacity, she serves as a lead DNA Analyst and/or technical reviewer on forensic DNA cases which have included homicides, sexual assaults and property crimes. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from West Virginia University in 1995 and a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science from Marshall University in 1998. She is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists. In addition to her duties as a Forensic DNA Analyst, Misty also serves as an Associate Faculty Member to the Marshall University Forensic Science Graduate Program. She is an instructor for the Genetics and DNA Technologies (FSC 604), Advanced DNA Technologies (FSC 629) and Biochemistry (FSC 624) courses.
Misty began a sexual assault initiative at the Marshall University Forensic Science Center in January 2001 by becoming a member of the WV Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Advisory Board. As a result of this involvement, the Marshall University Forensic Science Center began hosting Adult and Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner trainings to nurses in WV and around the US in 2005. As a part of the sexual assault initiative, the Marshall University Forensic Science Center is also the host facility for monthly meetings for the Cabell County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), of which Misty is a current member. Misty has also served on the Board of Directors for CONTACT Huntington which is the rape crisis center in Huntington, WV.
