Chief Operating Officer for the Marshall University Foundation
Joe Allwood has worked for Marshall University in support of the Marshall University Foundation since May of 2011. As Chief Operating Officer, he manages multiple groups across the foundation’s major gift development and development services teams. Along with the CEO, he establishes and evaluates the organization’s strategic vision, goal alignment and performance results. He is committed to the professional development of the foundation’s staff and to continuously improving the processes, systems, metrics standards and best practices employed to intentionally advance both the organization and donor relationships.
Prior to coming to Marshall, Joe owned and operated a software engineering business. From 1997 – 2004 with Probatum Technologies, Inc., he created and maintained several commercial product lines and was contracted to design, develop and integrate software solutions for clients spanning a diverse array of industries. From 2004 – 2011, he formed his own consulting firm and provided information systems development, management consulting and process optimization services, primarily to Fortune 500 companies, science and engineering firms and various government entities.
Joe completed his undergraduate work at the Ohio State University, earning a B.S. in 1993 and then an M.S. from Ohio University in 1997. He and his wife, Jennifer, currently reside in Wheelersburg, Ohio and stay busy with their four children, who range from 8 to 19 years of age. As a family, they are actively involved in their church and also enjoy travel, music and outdoor activities.
