The 1837 Society
Building Tomorrow's Tradition Today

Current Marshall students and recent graduates know firsthand what the Marshall University experience holds for students. With your leadership, you help ensure that Marshall maintains its academic program excellence while continuing to expand opportunities for future students.

What is it?

The 1837 Society is an effort led by alumni and students whose goal is to promote a tradition of giving among current Marshall University students and recent graduates.

Membership

Any current undergraduate or graduate student or Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) who makes a monetary gift to any Marshall University gift fund in a single fiscal year (July 1- June 30) will automatically become a member of the 1837 Society for one year.

1837 Society Members Can Make a Difference

While average comparable universities boast a 15 percent participation rate for alumni giving, Marshall lags behind with approximately 8 percent of alumni supporting academic programming and related projects. Recent graduates and students can give a little and make a big difference in today and tomorrow's alumni participation rates which play an important role in seeking corporate and foundation funding, as well as contributed to improving standings in US News and World Report.
