Instructor's Messages

This has been a semester to learn as well as make some wonderful friendships. I have learned from each of you during your time at Marshall. Each of you has a different experience base that has added to my knowledge of China both business wise as well as personally. I have enjoyed the time that I have spent visiting, chauffeuring, talking, playing, and learning with you. I feel that each of you have special talents that Sinopec is very lucky to have as an employer. Two special experiences stand out in my mind from a personal side: the jiaozi party at your dorm headquarters and your visit to my house. I wish each and everyone of you my best wishes for the future. I hope to see you during one of my trips to China this year and find out how your experience at Marshall University has changed your life.

I enjoyed working with all of you, and I am only sorry that the Fall semester was such a busy one for me as I would have liked to get to know you all better.

I hope that as well as improving your English and taking MBA style classes, you gained some valuable insights into the American way of life in Huntington: American football, Halloween, movies, the way that American students live...I know that you will all be glad to return to your families and friends in China (not to mention Chinese food!); but I also hope that you will think back to your time living and studying here, as time well spent in years to come. If I keep my promise to a good friend who lives in Bejing, and return before the 2008 Olympics to see how much China has changed, I will be sure to look you up!

Zaijian and Bon Voyage!

Teaching the group from SINOPEC has been a great experience for me. I couldn't ask for better students. Cooperative, enthusiastic, intelligent, and eager are just a few words I would use to describe the group. It seems hard to believe you will be departing from Huntington soon. I hope your experience here at Marshall will enrich you both personally and professionally. You'll be missed.

It has been my real and great pleasure to work with the group of students from SINOPEC. I have found you (the students) to be very bright, hard working, and ambitious people who have a real desire to learn. I have also been impressed by the lack of egos expressed- it appears that each of the students are here to truly learn and grow--and have not gotten the "big head" about being selected to attend this international program. I have also found the SINOPEC students to be very humble, which is a trait that helps to separate the "egos" in organizations from the true "learners".

SINOPEC students who are attending the joint Marshall/SINOPEC program represent, to me, the very best of international representatives-- both for your organization, as well as for your country.

I feel very blessed to have been able to work with and teach such a fine group of outstanding individuals. And I hope that I will have an opportunity to work with employees at SINOPEC as a consultant and/or teacher in future years.
Best Regards,

----Dr. Teri Daniel

I know you'd gone through the selecting procedures to be chosen in this group and each of you has proven to be the top in all aspects. I've heard a lot of good comments about your group from your professors, the administrators on campus, and from the Chinese community in Huntington. You are such an organized group! You will surely be missed.
