FACULTY CHECKLIST
Print this page

Please remember that the thesis/dissertation which the Faculty Committee approves and which the student uploads in PDF format to the Proquest ETD Administrator site must be reviewed and approved by the Graduate College before it is finally "delivered" to Proquest/UMI for publication.  The electronic PDF document represents the version of the Thesis/D that will be archived nationally through Proquest/UMI. We hope that you will review the final PDF as if it were a page proof to certify that it meets the content and format requirements for publication.

Oral Comprehensive/Thesis Defense:

NOTE: ETDs will be returned to the student for revision if they contain grammar, style, formatting errors. This could result in delays in certifying the student to graduate.

We have listed below some of the requirements that students often miss:

  • Margins are: 1” top; 1” right; 1” bottom; 1.5” left.
  • Font is the same style and size throughout the manuscript.
  • Table of Contents, List of Tables, List of Figures and Abstract contain lowercase Roman numerals.
  • Body of document, References and Appendices contain Arabic numerals.
  • Headers and titles of tables and figures match verbatim to the Table of Contents, List of Tables and List of Figures.
  • All major headers are in the same style and location throughout the document (i.e. all capitals and centered; upper and lower case left aligned etc.).
  • All figures and tables have converted to the PDF format correctly, are legible and within the specified page margins.
  • References are formatted in a consistent style throughout the manuscript.
