Application Materials for admission to all MUGC programs that do not have

a formal deadline, must be on file at least two weeks prior to the start

of any term.

       
  Test Requirements   Passing scores on the Praxis I, Pre-Professional Skills Test in reading, writing and math. (Reading, 174; Writing, 172; and Math, 172)

Note: The PPST may be waived with an ACT composite score of 26 on one testing date, or a SAT score of 1125, or a previously earned master's degree or higher.

Program Information
  Program participants must be admitted as certificate/professional development students to the Post Baccalaureate Certification Program under the Masters of Arts in Teaching Program at Marshall University.  Admission requirement include:
  • An official transcript verifying an undergraduate or graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university submitted to the MU Graduate Admissions Office
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.70
  • Completion of at least 90% of the content course requirements
  • A minimum 2.7 GPA in the content area with a grade of "C" or better for each course
  • A completed "Application for Admission" with the appropriate application fee
  • Passing scores on the Praxis I, Pre-Professional Skills Test in reading, writing and math. (Reading, 174; Writing, 172; and Math, 172)

A transcript analysis is required to evaluate content courses against the requirements for licensure in the secondary content specializations offered by Marshall University.  Generally, a degree or major in the content certification area is required.
