Member, Central Development Team for the Enhanced Assessment Grant. This federal grant to a nine-state consortium is charged with creating authentic, grade-level alternative assessment instruments for the 5% of special needs students who are the most impaired. There are two types of assessments being developed, portfolio-based and performance-based. I am the WV delegate to the performance-based team creating the secondary mathematics assessment. I was the consultant to the WV State Development Team for the Enhanced Assessment Grant to prepare for beta testing of the secondary mathematics test. The Central Development Team met in Denver again in November for refining of the instrument before state level beta testing begins in the Spring. Meetings were held for the state in Spring 2004
