Master of Arts in Reading
Education
The Master of Arts in Reading Education
consists of six foundation courses, four advanced courses, including two
practicum experiences and two elective courses
for a total of 36 credit hours.
Requirements for admission include:
· Undergraduate
grade point average of 2.7;
· A
valid WV teaching certificate;
· Graduate
Record Examinations (GRE) General Test verbal score of 400 or above or a
score of 389 on the MAT.
If these requirements are not met, then
admittance may be granted on a provisional basis.

from a different program such as curriculum and instruction, counseling,

The Professional Development Program in
Reading Education consists of five foundation courses and three advanced
courses for a total of 24 credit hours.
Requirements for admission include:

Additionally, candidates must hold a
relevant master's degree for certification eligibility.

Reading Teacher Certification
An 18-hour Professional Development Program |

|
The Certification
Program in Reading Education consists of six foundation courses.
Candidates must hold an initial general education teaching certification
for admission to the program. The grade levels of the Reading Education
endorsement will reflect those grade levels that appear on the
candidate's initial professional teaching certificate. |

|
|
|
Requirements for admission include:
· A
valid WV teaching certificate
Additionally, candidates must hold a
relevant undergraduate degree.

by the Reading Program from a regionally accredited college or university is
needed for admission to the program.

This may be done either along with a master's
degree program or independently.
