Success with Technology

**Starting Fall 2013 you will log in to MUOnLine and myMU with your MUNET ID (not your #901).  Please follow the directions found in the “GetReadyForMUNET” document.  Marshall University is also offering optional TechUP sessions that are designed to familiarize you with essential technology.  Please see the TechUP flyer for further information.

Your Marshall University ID Number

You will need your MU ID (a.k.a. 901 number) for many things, including course registration and signing into online courses. If you do not know your MU ID, you can retrieve it @ You will need your date of birth and Social Security Number to look up your MU ID. For future reference, record your MU ID and PIN.



myMU @ is the Marshall University portal used by students to register for classes, check email, view grades, view financial aid status, and make secure payments. To sign into myMU, use your MU ID (901——) and PIN (mmddyy).



MUOnline @ is your access point to online courses at Marshall University. To sign into MUOnline, use your MU ID (901——) and PIN (mmddyy).


GSEPD Online

Visit GSEPD Online to access important online and hybrid course information prior to registering each semester.


Your MUNET Account

Your MUNET account gives you the ability to sign on to computers on campus, among other things. The username is the same as the first part of your MU Email address: The password is randomly generated. In some places you may find this referred to as a “Hobbit” account. Record your MUNET account Username and password for future reference.


Your Marshall Email

You MUST use your Marshall Email address for all official university communications. The university will contact students using MU Email to share important information, including emergency announcements, course-related information, reminders and deadlines. You MUST have and use your MU email account. Your address was automatically assigned to you when you were admitted. Your password was initially set as your birth date (mmddyy).

For future reference, record your MU Email and password.

You will need your MUNET username and password to set up mail forwarding to another email address.


Service Desk Support

If you do not know your email or MUNET information, call the Service Desk — 304-746-1969 or toll-free 877-689-8638. Information will be sent by mail to the address MU has on file for you.

For immediate information you may also go in person to the Drinko Library on the Huntington Campus, to the library on the South Charleston Campus, or to GC 222 in the main building on the South Charleston Campus. Upon presenting a photo ID, your information will be provided.

Your program administrative assistant (program secretary) will be very important to you as you pursue your coursework. When you are admitted to a program, find out the name and direct number of this person and record it. You’ll be glad you did!
