A piece of Scotland comes to the Model School:

Pipe Major Joe Quick of Vienna, West Virginia visited the Model School, bringing his bagpipes to play to the whole school. Pipe Major Quick, or as some of the students called him: "Bagpipe Joe" not only played some wonderful Scottish tunes, but made it a learning experience as he talked to the crowd about the history of bagpipes, the music and the regalia.

Model School celebrates El Cinco de Mayo...

With Spanish music and dances, sombreros, maracas, and even piñatas the students at the model school celebrate this now popular Spanish heritage "dia de fiesta."

Second grade sings a song about world hunger

Ojalá que llueva café en el campo...May it rain coffee on the fields, is the name of a song by Juan Luis Guerra from the Dominican Republic.  The lyrics talk of about asking that instead of rain in the form of water, it would be nice if it were to rain food, so poor people in the world would not go hungry. The video clip shows the students practicing the beguiling of the song... more to come
