    Hi All
Guess if I'm going to ask all of you to send in photo's & messages, I'd better post one myself.  Soon, I'll set up my own personal Web page that will contain photos of all my family.

As you can see I'm having fun playing with the Web site (at the expense of everything else I should be doing, like cleaning the house & finishing the kitchen remodeling I started a year ago...Oh Well, some things in life can wait).  My family's getting along fine despite Mother's stroke. Here's some photo's of Mother before & after her stroke, so you see she still looks the same.  These  photos are 'thumbnail' size, to see a larger version, just click on the photos. From the large photos, hit your back button to return.  Carolyn Swisher (link to Photo & Bio) swisher@marshall.edu

      TheRollingStone(MyHomeAwayFromHome)
This photo of the Rolling Stone was taken on Kentucky Lake in the Summer of 1998. That's my son-in-law, Dave Oberst and my grandson Chris. My daughter Deb took the picture from the dinghy which is attached to the line I am holding. Their other two kids, Kyle & Megan, were taking a nap after some serious swimming.

I'm currently spending the winter in Holland Michigan, which is located on Lake Michigan. This Spring I plan to head north and east for a leisurely cruise across the Great Lakes and down the Eastern Seaboard. I go slow and stop in the places that I like, so I don't have a firm
plan. But I will try to arrive in the Chesapeake Bay area before next winter.

I am currently constructing a cruising web page to keep my family, friends and acquaintances up to date on my travels. In addition, I'm always looking for crew members. For more info, check out the web page:   The Rolling Stone Cruising Page

One of my other passions is the old people's disease: Genealogy. I have over 6000 names in my online database, so take a look, if that's your interest. You can start with McCorkle & Woody Family Roots: McCorkle and Woody Family Roots

Hi fellow Highlanders. After leaving HEHS, I went to Marshall College, majored in Pre-Med, and graduated summa cum laude in 1957. I married the former Carolyn Jean Sayre, HHS56 in June
1956. Two months later we moved to Richmond, Virginia where I went to school at The Medical
College of Virginia. This was followed by a year of Internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and three years as a Medical Officer in the United States Army. I served a four Residency in
Pathology at Cabell Huntington and stayed on there as pathologist. I was Chairman of the
Department of Pathology and Directory of Laboratories from 1979-1996. Following the
development of The Marshall University School of Medicine, I was appointed Professor of
Pathology. Although officially retired in June 1998, I still work every Wednesday morning, and
      love every minute of it.

We have one son, John Taylor, 1959 and one daughter, Julie Ann Rodriguez, 1961. John lives in
Sarasota, Florida, and is married to the former Rose Rhodes, HEHS76. He has a daughter Alexis, and a stepson Frederick.  Julie is married to Ray Rodriguez and they live in Miami Springs,
Florida.  She has four sons: Jonathan, Christopher, Jacob, and Joseph.

Retirement has been great to me. Besides working part time, I spend considerable time with my
computer and assisting others with their computers. I receive many emails daily and would
welcome yours, I promise to respond! jsheils@marshall.edu or cgull@prodigy.net. I will soon be
connected to @Home cable Internet and I will update that new address later. As the weather is
getting better, I play golf with Brother Bill, who also lives in Huntington, and is a retired
cardiologist. We also have a home in Seabrook Island, South Carolina. Magnificent golf,
restaurants, beach, and very few people!

It was a delightful surprise to learn of this website and I certainly congratulate Carolyn Swisher and all others who made this possible. Classmates: Please contribute to this site, we need to hear from you!   John P Sheils  Name linked to Bio & Class Photo
