Living Arrangements

Living arrangements must be made individually by the student. There are several local accommodations including:

The Upper-Classman

The Upper-Classman offers furnished studio apartments at a rate of $600 for a five-week lease, plus a $200 deposit (half of which will be retained as a cleaning fee).  It is located five blocks away from the Myers Hall.  Contact property manager Mr. Alex Vence at 304.544.7877, and let him know that you are part of the Medical HELP Program. Garden Park Apartments (RD Properties)

Apartments are available including some or all utilities, local phone and cable. Different rates are available for furnished and unfurnished apartments starting at $385 per month plus a non-refundable lease fee of $250  The fifth week can be prorated.  Garden Park Apartments are located near the Huntington Mall and are approximately fifteen minutes from Marshall University. Marshall University Dormitory

Cost for 5 week period is approximately $799 to $936 based on occupancy.  This includes 19 meals per week.  Cost may vary from semester to semester.  Meals are catered by Marriott Hotels.  IF YOU CHOOSE TO STAY HERE, PLEASE STAY THE ENTIRE FIVE WEEKS.  IT CAUSES A LOT OF PROBLEMS WHEN STUDENTS CHANGE THEIR MINDS AND WANT TO MOVE OUT

This is a hotel in the area, however you must pay regular rate. You should make the reservations yourself.  There is a complimentary shuttle available to take you to the hotel from the airport.  This hotel is located ten blocks from Myers Hall.  It has some nice amenities.  Call for more details.

Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites

Guest rooms have many amenities including a refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, hair dryer, ironing board and iron, voice mail, and data port. There are two fitness centers, an indoor pool, and a restaurant on the premises. You should make your own reservations and mention that you are with Marshall University's Medical H.E.L.P. Program. This hotel is approximately a 5 minute drive from Myers Hall, and is locate next to a variety of restaurants and a movie theater.

Call for rates.  This hotel is about a ten to fifteen minute drive from Myers Hall.  It is located on a bus route and is near Wal-Mart and a number of restaurants.

The Tri-State Transit Authority, our local bus system, is extremely helpful.  The personnel are generally happy to help anyone (i.e. with schedules) who needed to take the bus from a hotel or apartment to Marshall.  The TTA telephone number is (304) 529-7433.
